| “Oxi” (no) ORIGINAL 1 OF 1 – THE CONCEPT BEHIND THE PAINTING The bailout in 2010 gave Greece a ‘haircut’ which devastated the Greek economy. The harsh sanctions imposed by the EU and specifically Germany were seen as unfair, especially since Greece cancelled Billions owed in reparations after WWII. Santorini is depicted with the addition of graffiti, to show the two sides of its character. One being its beauty, culture and proud history and the other its political turmoil, financial instability and conflict.
